Why the Family Sought Treatment
The parents noticed dark cavities in the two upper central incisors. The teeth were gradually breaking down, leaving uneven edges.
The main goal was to stop further damage, preserve the baby teeth, and restore their natural shape.
Assessment and Treatment Plan
The dentist examined the teeth and assessed the depth of the decay. Dental X-rays helped check the roots and determine whether the teeth could be restored.
The plan included removing decay, placing fillings, and rebuilding the damaged edges. Considering the child’s age and difficulty tolerating lengthy treatment, general anaesthesia was selected. An anaesthetist assessed the child before the procedure.
Treatment Stages
1. Professional cleaning.
Plaque was removed from the tooth surfaces, around the gumline, and between the teeth.
2. Removing decay.
Decayed tissue was removed from the upper central incisors, along with weakened edges.
3. Filling and rebuilding the teeth.
Tooth-coloured filling material was used to repair the cavities and replace missing tooth structure. The biting edges were reshaped, and the shade was matched to the neighbouring baby teeth.
4. Polishing the restorations.
The surfaces were smoothed, and the contacts between teeth and the bite were checked. An anaesthetist monitored the child during treatment and awakening.
Treatment Result
The dark cavities were repaired with filling material, and the shape and damaged edges of the central incisors were restored. The front teeth appeared intact and even.
The parents received guidance on daily brushing, diet, and preventive dental visits.
