Why the Family Sought Treatment
The parents were concerned about brown marks and cavities in the upper incisors. Decay had affected the areas between the teeth, as well as their front surfaces and edges.
The main goal was to preserve the affected baby teeth and restore their shape.
Assessment and Treatment Plan
The paediatric dentist examined the teeth, assessed the extent of the decay, and took dental X-rays. Fillings and restorations were planned for the upper incisors. A lower baby incisor with substantial mobility was selected for removal.
Considering the amount of treatment required and the child’s ability to cooperate, the procedure was performed under general anaesthesia. The anaesthetist assessed the child beforehand and gave the parents preparation instructions.
Treatment Stages
1. Removing plaque.
Professional cleaning focused on the gumline and the spaces between the front teeth.
2. Removing decay.
The cavities in the upper incisors were cleaned, and weakened enamel edges were removed while preserving healthy tooth structure.
3. Placing fillings and rebuilding the teeth.
Filling material was used to repair the defects, recreate the side surfaces, and rebuild the damaged biting edges. Each tooth was restored individually, keeping the spaces between teeth accessible for cleaning.
4. Removing the loose baby tooth.
The lower incisor was gently removed. The socket was checked, and bleeding was controlled.
5. Finishing the restorations.
The dentist checked the bite and contacts between the teeth, then polished the restored surfaces. An anaesthetist monitored the child throughout treatment and awakening.
Treatment Result
The cavities were repaired, and the upper baby incisors were restored with intact surfaces and more even edges.
The parents received instructions on cleaning the restorations, flossing, and caring for the extraction site. Regular preventive visits were recommended to monitor the teeth.
